Privacy policy
Effective October 27, 2026
The short version. We use your data to build and coach your training plan and to run the social feed. Your plans, coach notes, checklist and coach conversations are private to you. Your profile, goals and the workouts you choose to share are visible to other signed-in members. We don't sell your data, show ads, or use tracking analytics. Email privacy@type2co.com to get a copy of your data or delete your account.
Who we are
Type 2 Collective ("we", "us") runs the website at type2co.com and the app at app.type2co.com. We are responsible for the personal data described in this policy. Contact us at privacy@type2co.com.
What we collect
From your Google account, when you sign in
- Your name, email address and profile photo. We never see your Google password.
What you enter in the app
- Profile details: display name, location, time zone, units (miles or kilometers).
- Your bucket list of goals and their target dates.
- Training preferences: how you like to train, how much strength work you want, your chosen training philosophy.
- Checklist ticks, messages to the AI coach, plan changes you ask for, and recommendations you apply or dismiss.
From Garmin, when you connect it
- Activity summaries: type, name, date and time, distance, duration, elevation, heart rate, cadence and similar workout metrics. Garmin's summary can include the location where an activity started; it is stored with the activity and is not shown to other members.
- Workout files (FIT), from which we keep splits, laps, best efforts and intervals. We do not keep your GPS track.
What we create for you
- Training plans, coach notes on your activities, workout highlights, and a running summary of your typical pace, cadence and best efforts.
Technical data
- Server logs (request time, address, path, errors) for security and fixing problems. Your browser stores your sign-in session locally so you stay signed in. We use no advertising or analytics cookies.
How we use it
- To build, update and explain your training plan and daily strength sessions.
- To analyse your workouts and write your private coach notes and public highlights.
- To show your profile, goals and shared workouts in the feed, and let members support each other.
- To keep the service secure, fix problems and understand costs.
We process your data to provide the service you sign up for. Where we rely on your consent (for example, connecting Garmin), you can withdraw it at any time.
AI coaching
Plans, coach notes, highlights and coach answers are written by Anthropic's Claude models. To do that we send Anthropic the information the coach needs for that task: your goal, relevant training history and workout data, your preferences and plan, and your message. Anthropic processes it to return a response under its commercial terms, which do not allow it to use this data to train its models. AI output can be wrong: it isn't medical advice, and you should stop and see a professional if something hurts.
Who can see what
| Visible to other signed-in members | Private to you |
|---|---|
| Display name, profile photo, location | Email address, time zone, training and strength preferences |
| Your bucket list of goals | Training plans, checklist, coach conversations |
| Workouts posted to the feed (all, only those public in Garmin Connect, or none: your choice in Profile), with their highlights, and who supported them | Coach notes and recommendations, workout splits and files, start locations, hidden activities |
Service providers
We share data only with providers that run the service for us, under their data-processing terms:
- Supabase: database and sign-in (United States).
- Railway: hosting for the app and server (United States).
- Anthropic: AI coaching, as described above.
- Google: sign-in with your Google account.
- Garmin: the source of your activity data, when you connect it.
We do not sell or rent your personal data, and we don't share it for advertising. We may disclose data if the law requires it or to protect the safety of our members.
Where your data is stored
Your data is stored and processed in the United States. If you use the service from elsewhere, your data is transferred to the United States.
How long we keep it
We keep your data while your account is open. When you delete something in the app (for example a goal) it is removed. When you ask us to delete your account, we delete your profile and everything linked to it within 30 days, apart from short-lived backups and logs, which expire on their own.
Your choices and rights
- Choose which workouts are shared to the feed, or hide a single workout, in Profile.
- Edit your profile, goals and preferences at any time.
- Disconnect Garmin by asking us; we stop syncing and can delete synced data.
- Ask for a copy of your data, a correction, or deletion of your account by emailing privacy@type2co.com. Depending on where you live (for example the EU, UK or California), you may have further rights, including to object to processing or to complain to your data-protection authority. We don't treat your data in ways that need a "do not sell or share" opt-out.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit, access is limited by account, and every database table enforces that you can only read and change your own private data. No system is perfectly secure; if we learn of a breach that affects you, we'll tell you.
Children
Type 2 Collective is not meant for anyone under 16, and we don't knowingly collect their data.
Changes
We'll update this page when our practices change and change the effective date above. For significant changes, we'll tell you in the app before they take effect.
